I think you all know by now that I adore children. I always thought that I would be a mother of four, including twins – I probably have to thank my younger twin brother and sister for that… I used to admire them playing together, always protecting each other. I really do love children. Maybe it is because once you manage to fasten yourself securely in their hearts, they are very willing to co-operate with just about anything you suggest. That, of course, gives me a free supply of all-natural smiles, belly laughter and enormous eyes full of wonder when they listen to one of my silly little stories that I make up to keep them entertained.
I’ve put together a collection of some of my favorite child images. Sometimes I meet a child who allows me instantly to see their soul… What a magic moment that is. No inhibitions, complete trust. Usually that ends up in the more serious photographs which I tend to convert to black and white, because I believe black and white photographs conveys the message of emotion so much easier than color does. The same goes for laughter, giggles, tears etc. Let me show you what I mean –
The love and adoration for mommy can be seen clearly in Ava’s eyes!
These three! Always such fun to photograph them. That’s a whole lot of emotion captured right there!!
Ah, Colleen & kids. You have a special place in my heart, forever x
Beautiful De-Rika. Her daddy’s little wildflower.
Now, let’s have a look at some colorful photographs! There is a big difference between taking photographs at a kiddies party (VERY colorful) and doing a photo shoot outdoors in nature. I actually prefer neutral tones when photographing kids, I like to put all the attention on their eyes which is normally a beautiful color. Let me show you what I mean –
Max with the big brown eyes. I thought the autumn leaves would bring out his eyes perfectly.
Karen, she adores you doesn’t she! This little one is looking at her mommy with a whole lot of love visible in her eyes.
Sometimes, I accentuate the color of their eyes with a matching top. Victoria, how I miss your little smiles!! Hope all is well in Jordan, munchkin.
Sometimes, we shoot in style 😉 Look at Xavier, leather and all!! Darling.
I have to thank River Meadow Manor for their hospitality, since I moved to Centurion I often use their beautiful venue for photo shoots – www.rmmanor.co.za
Drikus! Mamma se blou-oog seun!! What a lovely child to photograph.
I hope you enjoyed this post. I will have to do another one, there are so many wonderful children that I’ve photographed. Thank you to each and every one of them!
