The Farinha’s – four of them now!

Well….hallo!

I haven’t been blogging for a while now, but having done this shoot made me decide to write again, about my experience.  I’ve been a photographer for 20 years.  I have done countless family shoots – I always remember the faces, not so much the names.  Some clients become family and the Farinha’s counts as one of them.  The first time I met them was actually when I did a food advertising shoot for SPAR – David is the owner of the most beautiful Spar in Pretoria – Queenswood.  They liked my work and I loved their personalities.  How many times do you meet clients that invite you to stay for lunch and tell you “make yourself at home, you know the place”.

I did a couple of shoots with them when Aurora, their firstborn, was born.  Last year I missed out on her second birthday because I had to do a wedding – let me tell you I almost cancelled that wedding!  But of course, I couldn’t.  In my heart I wanted to, because when clients become like family, you are loyal to them and when their child reaches a milestone, you feel as if you cannot miss it for the world.  In the end Lauren ended up not even hiring a photographer for the event.  How loyal is that?

So great was my excitement this year when Lauren gave me a call and told me the new little baby is born and would I mind to come and take a few casual pics at home to celebrate their new little life, Luna.  Oh my goodness, how I love babies!  They make you forget about all the problems of the world, instantly!  Of course babies run according to their own clocks, so what should have been an half an hour shoot turned into almost two and a half hours – do I look like I’m complaining?  I loved every second.  Seeing everyone again including grandpa and grandma, watching how they interact with the children (and the dog!), fills my heart with joy and makes me realize how blessed I am to be doing what I’m doing.

So here’s a few pictures to celebrate family.  In Lauren’s words:  “Family, where life begins and love never ends.”  Even if the whole world is falling apart, we have our family.  We are loved.  Someone’s got our back.  I hope you enjoy them!  I will be seeing them again soon because little Luna is getting baptized.  I really cannot wait 🙂

I’m guessing it won’t be long before she tickles those little toes

Pillows has to be a part of the shoot and bunny’s doesn’t necessarily have to face the camera.  That’s Aurora’s rules 😉

Daddy’s little girl!

One happy little family

In her own world – that is, The Pillow World 🙂

High five, Mommy!

I couldn’t resist putting this one in!

Luna.  Isn’t she lovely?

And look, there’s one of me too!
